The lights whisper beauty, but the eyes promise chaos

Beauty.

It shines like a star or cuts like a curse. It has the power to take the breath away from whoever gazes upon it. But what truly makes a person beautiful? Is it the eye of the beholder or the resonance of what society has taught them to see?

I open my eyes. The moment my partner entered my life, I sensed a sort of endorsement from society I never realized existed. Society looked up to me, perceived me with admiration. At parties, their gazes followed me, their murmurs lingered. “What are they doing?” Doubting our mutual trust, as if the relationship came alive at night when society slumbered.

My partner’s behavior indicates a desire for passion. I start to question my own reality. Am I overthinking, or seeing something real? Am I gaslighting myself into acceptance? I was never screamed at, never struck, never sworn at. But their subtle remarks creep under the surface. When I bring it up, I get rationalized explanations. I let the questions fall back into silence.

I search for where it begins. Maybe it is how they were raised. Without family or society to rely on, it drove them into selfishness. Isolation can shape any person. They seem unwilling to change the habits that draw eyes wherever they go. I tell them it feels poisonous, that it is betrayal. Not in action, but in intention. They insist nothing happened, that I’m imagining it. I grow tired. Exhausted. Ready to let go of the battle, as always. And yet, every time I see them, there’s warmth of belonging. But I wonder: is it truly belonging, or is it pride? Pride in being with someone admired for their beauty.

“I’m leaving you.”

The sentence falls softly, almost tender, like a deceptive betrayal disguised as peace. “I found someone better.” A morning coffee surprise confession. I attempt to identify, search for the reason. What was I doing wrong? Can we fix this? The fear of losing all drives me to promise anything, even to give up my own identity. But they don’t waver. Eyes that once assured me validation now look at me with silent dismissal. Those who once envied me now mutter: How did they mess this up? Didn’t they have everything? What a moron.

Later, at the same café, the same beauty with a different face. But admiration no longer stirs in me. Only a heavy burden of memory and bitterness. A reminder that love, once luminous, can turn to chaos when the light shifts.

The Lights Whisper Beauty, but the Eyes Promise Chaos explores the mesmerizing beauty of the green tree python. Embodiment of elegance yet deadly. While its gaze may be unnerving, a second look reveals an unexpected grace and serenity underlying the chaos.

Layered with acrylics and completed with colored pencils, the artwork depicts the struggle of beauty vs. fear, inviting bystanders to gaze upon the duality of beauty. Ready to hang polished canvas (12 × 16 inches), this artwork is sealed for long-lasting durability and gloss, ensuring its colors and emotion endure for years to come.

The painting is based on our very own Creativebrosis reference photo. There will be only one piece available, which can be ordered from the Paint section of the Gallery tab

The Enchanting World of the Green Tree Python

Hidden high among the lush canopies of the tropical rainforest, green tree pythons inhabit monsoon forests and humid lowland forests of New Guinea, Indonesia, and parts of northern Australia, where the temperature remains a steady 28 to 32 °C.

These snakes are masters of the trees. Arboreal by nature, they spend nearly their entire lives coiled along branches, often in their classic S-shaped pose, a looping rest that both conceals and defines them.

When young, they are very colorful: bright yellow, rich crimson red, or light brown. Later, after six to twelve months of development, an intense green color emerges that blends with the rainforest canopy. Not only is this transformation beautiful, it is crucial for survival. Their color change provides near-perfect camouflage, allowing them to vanish among leaves and moss.

Primarily nocturnal hunters, green tree pythons are sneaky ambush predators. They rely on stillness and stealth, waiting silently for an unwary bird, rodent, or lizard that ventures too close. Heat-sensing pits along their jaws detect even the faintest warmth of passing prey, an amazing adaptation for nighttime hunting. When the moment is right, they strike with precision, constricting their prey in tight coils until breathing stops. Although nonvenomous, their power and agility make them formidable hunters of the forest.

Life in the treetops is not without danger. Hawks, eagles, and owls, as well as other pythons, regularly prey on eggs and young pythons. Green tree pythons play an essential role in their ecosystems. By preying on populations of small mammals and birds, they prevent overgrazing and seed predation, enabling forests to regenerate and maintain their rich diversity.

Sadly, although they are classified as a species of Least Concern, these radiant snakes face growing threats. Deforestation, habitat fragmentation, and illegal collection for the pet trade continue to impact their numbers. Their decline is a quiet warning that even the most balanced ecosystems can falter under human pressure.

Finally, the green tree python remains a symbol of untamed beauty, a creature of both calm and chaos.

Question time

What pattern do you notice in the fun fact about the green tree python in the art backstory? Who do you think is at fault, the one who possesses the beauty or the one who wants to be with the beauty?
